Antarctica – The Ultimate Dream

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away”- Maya Angelou

The White Continent is a mirage for many people and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is the photographer’s dream, the explorers’ playground, and the home of the richest wildlife and population of whales.

7 reasons to go to Antarctica:

1. Enthralling Wildlife
Immerse yourself in the breathtaking abundance of wildlife! Prepare to be captivated as you witness nature’s wonders firsthand. Picture this: inquisitive and plump 400 kg seals gracefully gliding beside our Zodiac, showcasing their majestic allure. Marvel at the sight of colossal whales gracefully exploring our very own Zodiacs, seemingly curious about our every move. Watch as playful penguins frolic in vibrant colonies, their antics bringing a smile to your face. Witness heartwarming moments between mother and cub, as they lovingly connect at every turn. Prepare to be amazed as you indulge in an abundance of awe-inspiring encounters with nature’s finest.

2. Spectacular Floating Glaciers
The beauty of the glaciers that cover the tall mountains and reach up to 3000 meters in the peninsula is extraordinary. Enormous icebergs, detached from immense glaciers, have acquired peculiar shapes over time. Ice fragments wander from one bay to another for years, seemingly seeking escape into the infinite ocean. The light reflects and creates various colors and effects, ranging from light blue to turquoise green.

3. Stunning Landscapes
Snow-capped high mountains reflect in the water, taking on the color of the sky. Unpredictable weather with snowfall, gusty winds, clear skies, intense sunlight, sunrise, and sunset… all of these elements urge you to discover photography and make you yearn to freeze time. Immortalize the experience of this journey and wish to return soon…

4. Fascinating History of the Explorers
It is truly awe-inspiring to delve into the captivating history of renowned explorers who ventured to the islands. During a trip to Antarctica, you learn about their remarkable tales of attempting to unveil the secrets of the White Continent, driven by aspirations of wealth, becoming heroes in their homeland, receiving noble titles for their endeavors, and risking their lives to pursue their dreams of adventure. It was a mixture of impressions: awe-inspiring, fascinating, somber, and profoundly moving.

5. Photography
There is no trip to Antarctica without amazing photos of the wildlife and scenery. Each month of travel is different, and wildlife can be observed in various stages of growth. The abundance of snow and its clarity in November makes it ideal for photography, as the snow is pristine white. In December, penguins lay their eggs, and at the end of the month, the first chicks are born, which are fed by their parents until they learn to hunt on their own which makes it great for photos. In the South Shetland Islands, you can find Gentoo, Chinstrap, and Adelie penguins while in South Georgia Island you can see the famous king penguins. In February and March, whales prepare to leave and can be seen everywhere, while the last penguins wait to molt so they can leave before winter approaches rapidly. Some stray penguins remain on the Antarctic Peninsula and become prey for predators.

6. Active adventures
There is no trip to Antarctica without active adventures such as camping, hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, cross-country skiing, and mountaineering or zodiac rides around the beautiful glaciers and around the rich fauna.

7. Polar plunge into the icy water
If adventure is in your blood and you love to make memories by plunging into the icy water you have this opportunity to do it in Antarctica. On board, a physician will be in attendance to ensure everyone is safe.
